The birth of Navy
When anyone other than the mum in labour messages you, you know itβs all go. Sophieβs sister text me at 8:42am saying βI think it would be good for you to come in the next hour, things are heating upβ. I got my camera gear ready and off I went to Sophieβs house, where I was to be documenting her labour at home before heading into Hospital.
Sophie was labouring in the lounge, with her sister Dan as an amazing support. Sophie had the tenβs machine going, and Dan was feeding Sophie water and snacks in between contractions.

Sophie laboured between a few different places in the house; lounge, bathroom and the bedroom. Once in the bedroom, Sophieβs midwife arrived and decided by watching her through a contraction that she wasnβt far away at all from having this baby, and they could head straight to the hospital.

Once we arrived at the hospital, Sophie hopped in the pool and was very pleased to hear she was fully dilated (as thought!) when examined. After a few minutes of contractions in the water, Sophie started pushing and a very short time after that, beautiful baby Navy was born calmly into the water, and up into mums arms, with Sophieβs sister and Husband next to her.

After the third stage of labour (the birthing of the placenta) was completed, Sophie made her way from the pool into the birthing suite. Here Sophie was examined for any repairs needed (of which there was none, yay!) and Navy had his newborn checks done.
And only a couple of hours later, Sophie and Scott went home, with their new baby in tow! Home to their eldest son Grey, who was very eager to meet his new little brother.
